1. About the Courses

Who are these courses suitable for?

These courses are designed for individuals seeking a career in the Security Industry.

*New entrants must complete all 3 basic licensing units - Guard and Patrol, Access Control Management (Provide Guard and Patrol Services And Operate Basic Security Equipment), Incident Response (Handle Security Incidents and Services) & Threat Observation (Recognise Terrorist Threats).

Do the courses need to be taken in sequence?

No, you may take the courses in any order, although it's recommended to take the sequence that requires the least time to complete.

What is the training mode and venue?

Courses will mostly be held physically at Temasek Polytechnic (face-to-face classroom training), with some parts delivered online through asynchronous e-learning.

2. Application Process

How do I apply?

First, click into the respective course page to submit your interest in the course. You will receive a copy of your interest submission & the application links and instructions in your email inbox immediately after you have submitted interest.

 

Please follow the email instructions to complete your registration on the Skills Training and Enhancement Portal (STEP) portal by the stated deadline.

3. Funding & Subsidies

Are these courses SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG)-funded?

Yes, SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) funding are applicable at the following rates: 

  • Up to 90% for Singapore Citizens aged 40 and above
  • Up to 70% for Singapore Citizens aged below 40 or SPR / LTVP+ 

 

All subsidised course fees (inclusive of GST) are indicated in the respective course pages, accordingly.

Can I use SkillsFuture Credits (SFC) to pay for the courses?

Yes, you can. Additionally, other forms of payment allowed on the STEP registration portal are: 

  • Credit card (e-payment)
  • Debit card (e-payment)
  • eNETS (e-payment)
  • PayNow (e-payment)

4. Withdrawal and Refund Policy

Is there a withdrawal and refund policy?

Participants may withdraw from the course without penalty if the request is raised 14 days or more before the course start date. 

 

Any withdrawal made within 14 days from the course start date is subject to penalties as follow:

 

  • 100% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted more than or equal to 14 days before the course start date 
  • 50% refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted less than 14 days before the course start date
  • No refund will be available if the withdrawal request is submitted on or after the course start date
