Course Description

This course covers essential skills required by leaders in the twenty-first century workplace. These include managing for team performance, impactful communication and skills for complex problem-solving.

 

To acquire effective team management skills, participants will learn how to generate clear and understandable team goals, identify productivity indicators and apply strategies needed to close performance gaps. They will also be equipped with tools for decision-making and problem-solving.

DAY 1: BUILDING HIGH PERFORMANCE TEAM

 

  • The Power of Teamwork: Why teamwork matters. Learn about key characteristics of successful teams and how to foster them.

 

  • Team Dynamics & Growth: Learn Tuckman’s five stages of team development and understand different group types and functions.

 

  • Foster Communication in Diverse Teams: Learn about the skills needed for effective communication in diverse teams as food service, retail/ eCommerce business operation often comprises of diverse teams, races, nationalities and age groups.

 

  • Communications Foundations: Master essential verbal and non-verbal communication techniques, differentiate between hearing and active listening, and address perceptual distortions and other communication barriers. Understand different communication channels and preferred styles.

 

  • Manage Performance & Conflict Resolution Skills: Learn how to manage performance and set clear expectations, acquire the techniques to bridge performance gaps and communication skills to provide constructive feedback.

 

  • Navigate Conflict & Foster Resolution: Learn about the strategies for effective conflict resolution such as active listening, problem solving approach and collaborative solutioning and how to apply them for conflict resolution.

 

DAY 2: LEADING AND EMPOWERING TEAMS

 

  • SMART Goal Setting: Learn the power of goal setting and to set and achieve goals using the SMART goals framework to drive team performance and success.

 

  • Empower Team through Delegation: Learn effective and ineffective delegation and the benefits of delegation. Acquire the essential skills to delegate effectively in a team including overcoming common barriers and understanding the balance of authority and responsibility.

 

  • Structural Approach to Problem Solving: Develop expertise in identifying problems, performing root cause analysis, and utilizing PPE (Procedure, Products, and Equipment) and the 5-WHY for troubleshooting and minimising impact.

 

  • Solution Generation & Implementation: Learn and acquire the essential skills to generate practical solutions and implement them effectively to address issues and improve team outcomes.

 

  • Make Effective Decision: Learn the difference between problem solving and decision making. Acquire the essential skills to apply GOWERCA  framework to make informed and strategic decisions.

  • For SME employee (Singapore Citizen, SPR, LTVP+): S$ 104.78
  • For non-SME employee:
    • Singapore Citizen aged 40 & above: S$ 104.78
    • Singapore Citizen aged below 40: S$ 269.78
    • SPR/ LTVP+: S$ 269.78

 

Other funding support available for enterprises:

  • Eligible employers may use the SkillsFuture Enterprise Credit (SFEC) to offset the fees. 
  • Absentee Payroll (AP): Eligible employers will receive a fixed AP rate of $4.50 per hour, capped at $100,000 per enterprise per calendar year.
